Annie Oppenheim

Program Director

BA, History and Education Policy, Dartmouth College

Appointed 2019

What do you do on campus? I direct the (HS)2 program, serve as a dorm parent in the North Dorm, coach the Cross Country team with Bobby and provide academic support for some Freshman students.

What drew you to the [HS]2 program? I have always been interested in the unequal American education system and closing the opportunity gap. When I started teaching in California I was excited to find a summer job that let me live in the mountains and work with students from underserved communities. Once I started working with (HS)2 I realized how deeply I believe deeply in the power of this program and the support it provides to students who don’t get the support they deserve from the public education system.

What do you like most about being a dorm parent? I love hearing about the intricacies of a student’s day and what’s on their mind as we enjoy some treats and wind down in the evenings.

Anything else you’d like to share? I am new to the CRMS trip program but I had an awesome time on my backpacking fall trip with Dan Pitz and lots of stellar students. I know that through CRMS I will explore areas in this valley and beyond that, I wouldn’t have discovered had it not been for the Outdoor program here.
