Hello! My name is Dominic Carrese, and I’m from Colorado Springs, Colorado. I’m currently finishing up a two-year M.S. at Dartmouth’s Engineering School, and I’ll be teaching math next year at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. My intellectual passions are mathematical problem solving and political theory—I studied political theory and computer science as an undergrad at Dartmouth (graduated 2019), and my M.S. has been a similar fusion. I find deep meaning and joy in rock climbing, trail running, really long bike trips, baking sourdough, and locally grown food. For so many reasons, I’m super excited to join the (HS)2 community this summer!! One main reason, a reason that’s also a core motivation for my thesis research, is that “STEM” can be learned and used in ways that support or subvert peoples’ opportunity to live their best lives, but “American culture” doesn’t have a good track record of teaching and using STEM in the best ways. We should explore how to do, and do, better! So I’m excited to join and learn from the (HS)2 community that’s exploring and doing the better approaches to STEM. What does that mean? Let’s talk about it!
