Trae Story was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. He began working with clay in high school and has been making ceramics ever since. After graduating high school, he moved to Saint Cloud, Minnesota, to attend St. Cloud State University, where he studied ceramic art. After receiving his degree in 2018, Trae moved to Bozeman, Montana, where he completed a year-long post-baccalaureate ceramics program at Montana State University in 2019. In 2020, he completed another post-baccalaureate program at Colorado State University. After finishing up at CSU, Trae moved to Carbondale, Colorado, where he was a resident artist at the Carbondale Clay Center for two years. He currently resides in Carbondale, where he maintains an active studio practice, but will be leaving the valley in the Fall to attend graduate school at Alfred University. Trae loves the outdoors and enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, camping, and mountain biking.
