Our academic philosophy

At (HS)2 we focus primarily on math and science instruction because we believe students equipped with strong STEM skills are better prepared to show persistence through college and beyond. Additionally, in our leadership and writing classes we encourage students to give voice to their curiosity and express their visions for a better future.

In order to provide the individualized care that each student deserves, our average class size is just 10 students per class. We have a student to faculty ratio of 4.3 to 1.

Math Collapse

We believe math instruction should be individualized and rigorous. That’s why (HS)2 students spend five weeks previewing the course they will take the following school year, working in small groups right on the edge of their comfort zone. Students can raise questions at any time and receive 1 on 1 support in study hall. We offer the following classes:

  • Geometry
  • Algebra
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Calculus
  • Calculus +
Science Expand

We believe science should be hands-on, immersive and fun! That’s why our curriculum prioritizes field trips and labs, so students can get their hands dirty as they experience and understand concepts from the inside out. We offer the following classes:

  • Biology (1st year)
  • Computer Science (2nd year)
  • Biomedical Engineering (3rd year)
  • Entrepreneurship
Leadership and Writing Expand

We believe leaders should be able to express their thoughts with clarity, precision and emotional weight. Therefore, we create a trusting environment where our students can practice articulating their thoughts with honesty and vulnerability. We offer the following classes:

  • Writing I
  • Writing II
  • Geopolitical Studies
  • Leadership Seminar
College Counseling Expand

We believe College Counseling services should be comprehensive and tailored to each student. We offer wrap-around support as students prepare for the SAT, craft their personal statement, compile financial aid packages and apply to their “reach” schools with confidence.
