We believe the most exciting learning happens at the edge of our comfort zones. With that in mind, we encourage our students to take full advantage of the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley and the state-of-the-art facilities at CRMS. Four afternoons a week, students participate in the Active Program, engaging in two activities consistently throughout the summer. We offer the following activities:

Kayaking Collapse

Students learn the fundamentals of kayaking in the CRMS kayak pond. As students develop comfort and competency in the sport, they have the opportunity to kayak in some of the world class rivers that surround the CRMS campus.

Rock climbing Expand

Students can learn the fundamentals of rock climbing in the beautiful CRMS climbing gym. From bouldering to belaying, students practice all facets of the sport, and conclude their summer with an outdoor climbing experience.

Team sports Expand

Students connect with peers through a variety of group activities each afternoon. Between kickball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, and more, students enjoy the camaraderie of their peers while being in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Music Expand

No experience required, but all experience levels welcome! Learn a new instrument, practice your vocals, or hone in a skill you’ve already been working on. Students have the opportunity to perform at the “Coffee House” concert at the end of the summer, which is attended by all students.

Dance Expand

No experience required, but all experience levels welcome! Students have the opportunity to perform at the “Coffee House” concert at the end of the summer, which is attended by all students.

Silversmithing Expand

Students learn the art of working with silver and create beautiful, one of a kind pieces of jewelry.

Ceramics Expand

The course will cover both on and off the wheel ceramics techniques, and projects will include everything from pinch pots to throwing clay.

Farming + Food Justice Expand

Interested in learning more about food systems and sustainable agriculture? Spend two afternoons a week working and learning in the CRMS garden and you'll be harvesting foods we'll eat in our meals that very same day! This active will connect you to the natural world and our food systems and you'll learn some skills to be able to grow your very own urban garden at home!
