BA, Southwest Studies and Music, Colorado College

Katie is a proud daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, raised in both Los Angeles, California and Van Buren, Arkansas. She graduated from Colorado College as a Questbridge scholar with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Southwest Studies and Music. She is now living in Aurora, Colorado where she empowers and prepares students for post-secondary education through college advising. She runs a Future Center where she is able to support her first generation community by allowing them to dream and discover new aspirations. She also serves on a government relations committee for the Rocky Mountain region where she loves advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, undocumented families, indigenous peoples rights, and those directly affecting her students. When she’s not scrolling through TikTok, Katie loves to dance, practice yoga, hammock while reading, or take up new arts and crafts. Katie is so excited to chismear and build community during her first working summer at (HS)2!
